Meet the team

Aaron has a music composition degree from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He spends his days writing music, programming, doing mathematics and, most importantly, teaching clarinet, saxophone and composition.

Alex has a Bachelor of Music Performance, majoring in piano, from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and enjoys exploring a wide range of contemporary and classical music. Alongside his classical piano studies, he has developed skills in jazz and classical voice, and works professionally as a musician. Alex enjoys teaching and loves passing on his love of music to his students.

Ben is a musician with a strong background in jazz guitar and contemporary music. He has performed as a solo artist and with several bands.

Ben brings plenty of energy to his lessons and loves helping students build confidence, develop strong foundations and enjoy making music.

Chris has more than five years of music teaching experience and brings a fresh, practical approach to his lessons. He specialises in vocal training as well as instrumental teaching, and he knows every student learns differently.

Influenced by 90s grunge, country, gospel and pop, Chris connects with students of all styles and abilities. His teaching philosophy is simple: build on each student's natural strengths rather than forcing them into one method.

Through personalised lessons and real world performance experience, Chris helps students find their own musical voice while building the technical skills they need.

Eric studies Jazz Performance, majoring in guitar, at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He also holds an Associate in Music (AMusA) diploma in violin, and brings that dual instrument background into his lessons.

He enjoys working with students of all levels, from those just starting out to those preparing for exams or performances. He is patient and understanding, and aims to create lessons where learning and fun go hand in hand. His goal is to help each student become a better musician and enjoy every step along the way.

Erik studies cello performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music as part of a Bachelor of Music. He credits much of his development as a musician to his teachers, cellists Christopher Bennett and Julian Smiles. Erik has played in the cello section of Sydney Youth Orchestra's flagship orchestra, taking part in orchestral projects and international tours. He loves music and teaching, and wants to pass his knowledge on to younger players so they can enjoy making music as much as he does.

Eumi completed both a Bachelor and a Master's degree in Korea, majoring in classical piano, and took part in a summer school program in London during her graduate studies. With more than 30 years of piano teaching experience, she focuses on both the technical and theoretical sides of piano playing and has taught students of all levels.

Eumi has extensive experience as an accompanist, including Suzuki violin recitals and a range of instrumental AMEB exams. She plays organ and keyboard in the music ministry at Sacred Heart Parish in Pymble.

Felix is a clarinet and saxophone player who studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

He loves working with young musicians and helping them grow both technically and creatively. He teaches band repertoire, classical music and jazz, and adapts his approach to suit each student's interests and level.

Felix holds his AMusA on saxophone and has reached Grade 7 on clarinet. He aims to build confidence, strong fundamentals and a real enjoyment of playing that stays with students long after their school years.

Gerard loves all things percussion, from drum kit to xylophone and everything in between, including drum corps. He was appointed Drum Major of the Drum Corps at Red Bend Catholic College in Forbes. He treats all the major genres equally, from rock and funk to metal and jazz.

His students have done very well in school assessments and eisteddfods, and in CPM and AMEB exams.

Gerard has studied Music Composition (tuned and untuned percussion, voice and synthesiser) at the Australian Institute of Music as part of a combined degree in Composition and Sound Production. He has performed in rock, jazz and orchestral ensembles across NSW.

His teaching puts real emphasis on getting the essentials right before moving on, while using a varied set of methods to get the best result in a reasonable time. His students' achievements show it works.

Janice started piano at five and it quickly became a lifelong love. She holds a Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education and an ABRSM Diploma in Piano Performance, giving her strong musical and teaching foundations.

Janice has taught piano to students of all ages, from kindergarten through to adults. She cares about building confidence, making lessons fun and helping every student enjoy music for the long haul. Her approach blends structure with encouragement, so students feel supported and excited about what they can achieve at the piano.

Josh studies violin performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music as part of a Bachelor of Music Performance. He began the violin at seven with Naira Yusofova and studied with her for eight years. Soon after starting, he joined the Northern Sydney Youth Orchestra String Ensemble, becoming concertmaster in Years 5 and 6, and later the NSYO Symphony Orchestra, where he served as Assistant Concertmaster and then Concertmaster.

While studying with Naira, Josh received a full music scholarship to The Hills Grammar School, where he completed high school. He went on to study with Dr Evgeny Sorkin (Lecturer in Violin at the Sydney Conservatorium), and under his guidance completed both his AMusA and LMusA diplomas and joined the Australian Youth Orchestra, with whom he performs across Australia. Josh is a recipient of the Ted and Sussan Meller Memorial Fund from the University of Sydney.

Josh has experience teaching privately and tutoring the NSYO string ensemble, and teaches beginner through to advanced students.

Joy has completed bachelor's and master's degrees in classical piano performance and music education.

She has been heavily involved in ensembles at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music and has toured Australia, giving her a wealth of performance experience.

Joy has taught piano for more than ten years, both in the classroom and privately. She loves working with people of all ages, and says music and people are her two greatest loves.

Lachlan has a Bachelor of Contemporary Music from Southern Cross University, majoring in Songwriting and Composition. He started piano at nine and completed AMEB Grade 8 Piano for Leisure during his HSC. With experience in education as a School Learning Support Officer in primary schools, Lachlan is keen and well equipped to pass on his love of music to his students.

Maria trained in Germany, completing a Master of Music at the University of Heidelberg and a Bachelor of Music (Hons) at the University of Munich. She has since built a successful piano teaching career, teaching piano and musicianship to students of all ages, from primary school to tertiary level.

Maria has performed as a soloist and accompanist in Australia and Germany in many public and music club appearances, including invitation recitals, charity recitals, as an official accompanist and on a sponsored solo tour (Samsung). She has recorded with ABC FM and 2MBS-FM.

Mason is a guitar and vocal teacher with 15 years of performance experience across many genres, both as a solo performer and in ensembles ranging from large jazz ensembles and rock bands to large and small choirs. He has performed at Town Hall, at festivals and at other large venues. He has a Bachelor of Music (Composition and Production) from the Australian Institute of Music.

Mason specialises in contemporary music. He builds lessons around enjoyment, choosing songs that use progressively more challenging techniques, so students want to keep practising and progressing.

Having first picked up a guitar at five, Mason understands what it takes for students of all ages to stay engaged with an instrument, enjoy the process of learning, and feel proud of their results.

Max is a multi instrumental music educator specialising in piano, saxophone and trombone. He started playing at five and holds both Associate and Licentiate qualifications in piano performance. His teaching covers classical and modern technique, with particular strength in sight reading, chord theory and instrumental technique.

Max creates an engaging learning environment where students build strong musical foundations. He teaches both beginners exploring their musical interests and advanced students working towards performance goals.

Melika completed her high school studies at the Tehran Music Conservatorium and studies for a Bachelor of Music at the Australian Institute of Music. She has taken part in a range of international masterclasses and performances.

Melika has taught music to students of all ages and loves sharing her passion for music with her students.

Monica's love of music shows every time she steps on stage, and she brings the same energy to her teaching. She is a singer and songwriter with 12 songs on Spotify, holds a music degree specialising in songwriting from JMC Academy, and has 10 years of vocal training and five years of guitar playing behind her.

Monica has performed all over Sydney, from markets and festivals to pubs and clubs, which has given her real insight into live performance, musicianship and songwriting. Music has been her emotional outlet as a neurodivergent artist, and she believes in its ability to connect people.

Monica loves helping students find their voice, explore their creativity and enjoy making music for themselves.

Nick is a jazz, soul and rock pianist who has played piano and keyboards since the age of 12.

He studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Jazz Composition. Back in Sydney, he does session work and plays with cover and original bands.

Nick has taught piano to students of all ages for more than ten years. He teaches improvisation, composition and ear training, and tailors each lesson to the student's interests.

Paisley is a highly experienced violinist and teacher who began the violin at three. She has taught violin for more than six years, working with students across a range of ages, levels and needs. She graduated from Ravenswood School for Girls as a Music Scholar and Performing Arts Prefect, with a strong foundation in performance and musical leadership.

As a performer, she has taken part in programs with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra Academy and the Australian Youth Orchestra, and has toured as a soloist with the Ballet International Gala. Paisley holds both AMusA and LMusA diplomas in violin and is committed to building musicality and confidence in her students.

Rhys loves teaching and sharing the joy of music with others. He studies music and sound design at UTS and has been teaching since he finished high school.

With more than ten years of guitar playing experience, Rhys teaches a wide range of styles and loves watching his students learn to play the music they love. He is also an active songwriter and producer, and wrote his first songs in primary school. Always keen to add to his musical toolkit, Rhys has picked up bass guitar, piano and drums along the way.

Rosie studies piano and percussion at the Conservatorium. A former ISM student, she has kept up the piano as a soloist and ensemble player, plays in orchestras and wind bands, and has won many competitions across the state.

Rosie has loved teaching music since she was very young, inspired by her own ISM teachers. She hopes to pass that on and help children of all ages flourish as musicians.

Siebe attained his CMUS (Certificate of Performance) in piano in 2010 and graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2014. During those years he studied with notable Australian pianists Gerard Willems and Kevin Hunt. Siebe has taught students of all levels and ages for more than a decade, specialising in classical and contemporary styles.

He is also an accomplished electric bass player and composer. He completed a master's in jazz at the Conservatori Liceu in Barcelona in 2022 and has recorded three albums of original music.

Siebe loves sharing his passion for music with his students.

Zoe is an accomplished violinist with extensive experience in some of Australia's leading youth ensembles, including the Sydney Youth Orchestra, the Australian Youth Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra Academy, where she was Concertmaster. She holds the LMusA with Distinction and received advanced performance training through the Rising Stars program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Zoe works with students of all ages, offering supportive, personalised lessons that build strong technique, musical expression and confidence. She loves inspiring young musicians and sharing her love of music and the violin with every student she teaches.
