1. Who we are

This policy covers International School of Music Turramurra Pty Ltd (ABN 33 677 541 089), trading as ISM Turramurra ("ISM", "we", "us"). We respect your privacy and take care with the personal information of our students, parents and guardians. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have.

Technical information collected by cookies and similar tags, such as the pages you visit, how you arrived at the site, your device and browser type, your approximate location and your IP address (see section 6)

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

Deliver music lessons and classes
Book trial lessons and manage class schedules and attendance
Communicate with you about lessons, invoices and school events
Keep student records
Organise concerts and events
Contact you in an emergency
Understand how people use our website so we can improve it
Measure and improve our advertising

4. Our student portal and booking app

Free trial bookings, the student portal and student records are handled through our app at app.ismturramurra.com.au. Information you enter there, and the records we keep about lessons, attendance and progress, are stored in that system. Only ISM staff and teachers who need the information to teach your child or run the school can see it.

5. Who we share information with

We don't sell, trade or rent your personal information.

We share information only with:

ISM teachers and staff who need it to deliver our services
Service providers who help us run the school, such as our payment processor (Pinch Payments), our accounting software, the providers that host our website and our student portal and booking app, and email services
Google and Meta, through the website tags described in section 6
Anyone we are required to share it with by law

Some of these providers, including Google and Meta, store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States.

We don't store credit card or bank account details ourselves. Payment details are held by our payment processor.

6. Cookies, analytics and advertising tags

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies, including for marketing and advertising. These include:

Google Tag Manager, which we use to load and manage the other tags on our site.
Google Analytics 4, which tells us how people find and use the website, such as which pages are viewed and for how long. We use this to improve the site.
A Google Ads conversion tag, which tells us when someone who clicked one of our Google ads goes on to book a trial or send an enquiry. Google may also use this to show our ads to people who have visited our site.
A Meta pixel, which does the same for our Facebook and Instagram ads. It lets us measure those ads and show them to people who have visited our site.

These tags collect technical information such as the pages you visit, your device and browser, your IP address and identifiers stored in cookies. Google and Meta handle that information under their own privacy policies:

7. How to opt out

You can limit or turn off this tracking at any time:

Browser settings: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or browse in a private window. Some parts of the site, such as booking forms, may not work as well with all cookies blocked.
Google: you can turn off personalised ads in Google's ad settings, and stop Google Analytics collecting your visits with Google's Analytics opt out tool.
Meta: you can manage how Meta uses information from websites to show you ads in your Meta ad preferences on Facebook or Instagram.
Emails from us: you can opt out of newsletters and other optional emails at any time. We'll still send messages you need about lessons and invoices.

8. Communication

We contact parents, guardians and adult students by email (for invoices, newsletters and important updates), by phone and in person.

9. Children's privacy

We collect information about children under 18 only with a parent's or guardian's consent, and we use it to teach and look after them. We handle it with care.

10. Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep records only for as long as we need them for teaching, accounting and legal reasons, and then delete them or remove anything that identifies you.

11. Your rights

You can ask us to:

Show you the personal information we hold about you or your child
Correct information that is wrong or out of date
Give you a copy of your information
Delete your information, where the law allows
Stop sending you marketing emails

12. Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. If you're still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and let families know by email about any significant changes.
