Getting started
How do I enrol?
The best way to start is with a free trial lesson. Book a free trial for private lessons, or for group classes send us an enquiry through our contact form and we'll find the right class for your child. You can also email us at info@ismturramurra.com.au.
Can I have a free trial?
Yes. We offer free trial lessons for both group classes and private lessons, so you can experience our teaching first hand before committing. Book a free trial.
Is there an age requirement?
Private lessons have no minimum age; we teach children, teenagers and adults, and you're never too old to start learning an instrument. Group classes are grouped by age: Beeboppers for 3 year olds, the Junior Course for 4 to 6 year olds, the Primary Course from 7, the Intermediate Course for Junior Course graduates and the Extension Course from 9. Do you acknowledge previous music tuition?
Yes, we do. That's why we ask about prior experience when we first talk with parents. We then place your child in the class that best suits their age and level of experience.
What types of lessons do you offer?
We offer both group classes and private lessons.
Lessons
How long are the lessons?
Group classes are 45 minutes for Beeboppers, the Junior Course, the Primary Course and the Intermediate Course, and 60 minutes for the Extension Course. Private lessons start from 30 minutes.

For private lessons we teach:

What is your teaching approach?

What days are you open?
We're open 7 days a week. Lessons and classes run Monday to Sunday during the public school terms. See our term dates.
Fees and policies
Is there a registration fee?
No. We ask parents to pay for each term upfront, and we offer a free trial lesson for new students. Book a free trial.
When and how are fees paid?
Fees are invoiced by email in advance of each term and are due the week before the term starts. See our enrolment agreement for the full details.
Do you offer discounts for friends and family?
Yes. We offer a 10% discount off the first term for any friends and family you bring along.
What happens if my child misses a lesson?
- Private lessons: every private student can have up to two makeup lessons per term, including for sickness, as long as the office hears from you at least 12 hours before the lesson starts. The office books the makeup at a time your child's teacher has free. Makeups need to be used by the end of the following term.
- Group classes: group classes don't have makeup lessons. The teacher sends the homework for that week, and if there's a suitable class at the same level in the same week, we'll try to fit your child in, but that depends on space and isn't guaranteed.

How long has ISM Turramurra been operating?
ISM Turramurra opened in January 1992 and has taught music in Turramurra and across the North Shore ever since. Book a free trial.
How is ISM different from other music schools in Turramurra?
ISM Turramurra has taught music in Turramurra since 1992, from two studios on the Pacific Highway that are open seven days. We teach both one on one private lessons for any age and structured group courses from age 3. Every lesson follows the ISM method: what you hear, you sing; what you sing, you play; what you play, you read; what you read, you write. The first private lesson is a free 30 minute trial, and you can see the times that are free and book online from our live schedule.
